"Imaging Gently"-Radiation and CT Scans

Doctors Cathy Mazzola and Lauren Schwartz are very concerned about the amount of radiation children are exposed to when CT scans are done. The newest guidelines and recommendations from the Section on Pediatric Neurological Surgery and American College of Radiology recommend "imaging gently" and conservatively. Dr. Mazzola and Dr. Schwartz use MRI and ultrasound whenever possible, for neuro-imaging. There are times, however, when a CT scan is indicated.
